Types Of Beams And Their Examples
1- Simply Supported Beam : is one of the simplest structural elements according to which the two ends rest on supports but are free to turn. It contains a pinned stand at one end and a roll stand at the other end. the simply supported beam is supported at both ends.
9- beam According to shape of cross section
1- I-beam : This beam types have I cross section. It has high resistance of bending.
2- C-beam Beam with ″ C ″ cross section
3- T-beam Beam with ″ T ″cross section
2- Fixed beam
This beam is fixed from both ends. It does not allow vertical movement and rotation of the beam. It is used in trusses, and other structure.
3- Cantilever Beam : If a beam is fixed at one end and set to be free at the end,
it is termed as cantilever beam. The beam distribute the load back to the support where it is forced against with a moment and shear stress. Cantilever beams allow the creation of a bay window, balconies, and some bridges.
4- Double overhanging beam: A simple beam whose two ends extend beyond its support at both ends.
5- Trussed beam :A beam strengthened by adding a cable or rod to form a Truss
6- Continuous Beam: A continuous beam has more than two supports distributed over its entire length.
7- Rectangular beam: This type of beam is widely used in the construction of reinforced concrete buildings and other structures.
8- Reinforced Concrete Beams:It is constructed from concrete and reinforcement
9- beam According to shape of cross section
1- I-beam : This beam types have I cross section. It has high resistance of bending.
2- C-beam Beam with ″ C ″ cross section
3- T-beam Beam with ″ T ″cross section
